FOMARIC in Douala
FOMARIC is a decades-old Douala fair pairing craft and small-business trade with a rotating cultural programme, where each day of the roughly month-long run spotlights a different Cameroonian community through dance, music and storytelling. Now past its thirtieth year, it combines a juried contemporary art competition with stalls built for direct commerce, making it as much an economic showcase as a cultural one.
FOMARIC structures its programme around a rotating calendar of ethnic communities: one day belongs to the Bassa, another to the Bamoun, each given its own dance, music and storytelling slot rather than a single blended showcase.
