First Short Festival in Yaounde
First Short Festival is a pan-African festival for school-produced short films, fiction, documentary and animation up to thirty minutes, created in 2014 in Yaounde by the CINEVISION Association. Its twelfth edition ran April 22 to 25, 2026, awarding the Stylo d'or across categories including best film school and reserving a separate prize, the Stylo d'or de l'espoir, for the best film with no school affiliation.
First Short Festival exists for a category of filmmaking most festivals treat as a stepping stone rather than a destination: short films made by students, none running longer than thirty minutes including credits.
