Yaounde International Book Fair in Yaounde
The Yaounde International Book Fair, known locally as the Salon International du Livre de Yaounde, brings together publishers, authors and readers from Cameroon and across Francophone and Anglophone Africa. The event centers on book sales, author signings, panel discussions and efforts to support Cameroon's publishing industry.
Cameroon occupies an unusual position in African publishing, shaped by its colonial-era division between French and British administration, which left the country with both a Francophone majority and a substantial Anglophone minority concentrated in the Northwest and Southwest regions, along with numerous indigenous languages spoken across its more than two hundred ethnic groups.
