The story

Carabram Brampton in Brampton

Carabram has run in Brampton each July since 1982, taking its name from Toronto's older Caravan Festival of Cultures and Brampton itself. Community volunteers staff pavilions representing different countries and cultures across halls and centres citywide, connected by a free Brampton Transit shuttle, with the roster of participating communities shifting from one year to the next.

Carabram began in Brampton in 1982 when volunteers from several ethnic communities set out to build a cross-cultural festival modeled on Toronto's older Caravan Festival of Cultures, and the name is a direct blend of Caravan and Brampton.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Carabram's identity rests on its volunteer-run, community-hosted pavilions and its direct lineage to Toronto's Caravan Festival, reflected in its blended name

02

The mystery stays covered

Pavilions rotate over the years, having represented communities from Croatia and Macedonia to India, the Philippines, and the Caribbean, so no two editions offer quite the same roster

03

The city starts moving

A free shuttle run by Brampton Transit connects the scattered venues for ticket holders, a practical feature that has defined the festival's logistics since early editions

04

The water draws everyone in

The result is a festival that rewards repeat visits precisely because its lineup of pavilions keeps shifting rather than settling into a fixed format
