Great Northern Arts Festival in Inuvik
Great Northern Arts Festival brings Northern and Indigenous artists from across the Arctic to Inuvik, Northwest Territories, for roughly ten days of exhibitions, open studios, and evening performances under continuous summer daylight. Founded in 1989 by Charlene Alexander and Sue Rose, it pairs a juried sales gallery with hands-on carving, printmaking, and sewing demonstrations, plus concerts, drum dancing, and fashion shows that showcase circumpolar craft and design.
Charlene Alexander and Sue Rose founded the Great Northern Arts Festival in Inuvik in 1989 as a meeting ground for Northern and Indigenous artists who otherwise worked in isolation across the Arctic.
