Royal St. John's Regatta in St. John's
The Royal St. John's Regatta is the oldest continuously held organized sporting event in North America, a fixed-seat rowing competition on Quidi Vidi Lake dating to at least 1816. Held the first Wednesday of August, weather permitting, it doubles as a civic holiday in St. John's, with community and workplace crews racing while thousands gather lakeside for food booths, games and live music.
