Festival TransAmeriques in Montreal
Festival TransAmeriques merges two older Montreal institutions, a theatre festival founded in 1985 and a contemporary dance biennial, into a tightly curated late spring program of international and Quebecois performance. Rather than a big open-air event, FTA spreads a small, hand-picked roster of theatre and dance productions across several Montreal theatres over roughly three weeks, with many shows selling out their limited run.
Festival TransAmeriques carries the DNA of two separate Montreal institutions: the Festival de theatre des Ameriques, founded in 1985 to showcase experimental theatre from across the hemisphere, and the Festival international de nouvelle danse, a contemporary dance biennial.
