Fiesta de la Virgen de Andacollo in Andacollo
Fiesta de la Virgen de Andacollo is one of Chile's largest religious pilgrimages, drawing hundreds of thousands to a small mining town in the Coquimbo region each December to honor a venerated image of the Virgin at the Basilica de Andacollo. Organized dance brotherhoods known as bailes chinos and danzantes perform devotional choreography for hours around the church. The small town transforms completely under the scale of pilgrim crowds.
