Semana Penquista in Concepcion
Semana Penquista is Concepcion's annual civic and cultural week, named for the penquista identity of the city's residents and typically held around late summer. The program mixes concerts, parades, sporting events and public gatherings across the city's plazas and main avenues, organized through the municipality. It reflects Concepcion's history as a refounded colonial city and gives the Biobio regional capital its own dedicated moment of civic celebration.
Semana Penquista gives Concepcion, the largest city in southern Chile's Biobio region, its own dedicated week of civic and cultural celebration, typically held around late summer as the city marks its own identity and history separate from the university-town reputation it carries the rest of the year.
