Fiesta de San Pedro Valparaiso in Valparaíso
Every June 29, Valparaiso's fishing coves, El Membrillo and Caleta Portales among them, carry the image of San Pedro, patron of fishermen, from land to sea. A procession moves by foot to Muelle Prat, then continues by boat around the bay, escorted by decorated fishing vessels and around nine bailes chinos dance groups performing along the route.
Valparaiso's fishing coves close their working day early on June 29 to honor San Pedro, the patron saint of fishermen, in a festival that moves between land and open water.
