Ojo de Pescado Children's Film Festival in Valparaíso

Ojo de Pescado has run in Valparaiso since 2012 as Chile's first festival built specifically around cinema for children and teenagers, screening age-selected films alongside workshops in audiovisual education. Now run by its own nonprofit body, the festival includes a competitive selection and the companion short film program Ojo al Piojo, based mainly around Parque Cultural de Valparaiso.

Ojo de Pescado filled a specific gap when it launched in 2012: despite Chile's growing film production, the country had no dedicated festival built around cinema for children, and director Alejandra Fritis founded the event in Valparaiso with a team of audiovisual communicators, journalists and educators to address that directly.
