Vina del Mar International Film Festival in Vina del Mar
Founded in 1962, the Vina del Mar International Film Festival, FICVina, is one of Latin America's oldest film festivals, held each November in the resort city of Vina del Mar on Chile's central coast. Distinct from the city's famous televised song festival, FICVina centers dedicated cinema programming against a coastal, garden-and-beach backdrop unlike Santiago's denser film events.
Founded in 1962, the Vina del Mar International Film Festival, known locally as Festival Internacional de Cine de Vina del Mar or FICVina, predates nearly every other film festival in Chile and much of Latin America, giving it a historical weight that newer events cannot claim.
