Hong Kong Arts Festival in Hong Kong

Launched in 1973 with a programme led by Sir Yehudi Menuhin's Menuhin Festival Orchestra, the Hong Kong Arts Festival now runs every February and March across more than a dozen citywide venues, spanning theatre, dance, opera and music. Organised by a dedicated non-profit society, it draws attendance in the hundreds of thousands each edition.

When the Hong Kong Arts Festival launched in 1973, its inaugural programme included the Menuhin Festival Orchestra under Sir Yehudi Menuhin himself, with pianist Fu Tsong among the soloists and the Hong Kong Festival Chorus performing alongside them, a striking opening statement for what has become one of Asia's longest-running international arts festivals.
