Liuzhou International Water Carnival in Liuzhou
Liuzhou's autumn river festival combines a food celebration built around the city's famous river snail rice noodle with a water-sports meeting, ethnic-customs music programme and riverside night performances on the Liujiang. Running each year around the National Day holiday since 2011, it turns an industrial Guangxi city into a genuinely lively, food-and-water-focused public event worth timing a visit around.
Liuzhou built its modern identity festival around a river, and the International Water Carnival is the clearest proof: since 2011 the city has staged it each autumn around the National Day holiday, and it has twice been named one of China's Top Ten Brand Festivals.
