Pudong Chinese New Year Cultural Festival in Lujiazui/Pudong
A newly launched addition to Shanghai's Lunar New Year season, this open-air festival runs along the Lujiazui riverside with more than 150 vendors, over thirty intangible-heritage performances including Kunqu opera and lion dance, and a nightly datiehua molten-iron-spark performance from Chongqing staged against Pudong's skyline each evening.
Launched as a new addition to Shanghai's Lunar New Year calendar, the Pudong Chinese New Year Cultural Festival unfolds along the Lujiazui riverside, outside the Shanghai International Convention Center and the Museum of Art Pudong, choosing Pudong's modern skyline as an unlikely but deliberate backdrop for traditional New Year culture.
