Pohui Festival Rongshui

Rongshui county's pohui gatherings, held on rolling dates across different villages throughout the first lunar month, combine Lusheng reed-pipe competitions, horse fighting, antiphonal singing, and traditional dance in a tradition recognized as national intangible cultural heritage since 2006. Beyond entertainment, the occasion honors community martyrs, prays for protection, and functions as a courtship gathering for young attendees, drawing roughly 720,000 tourists in one recent season.

For over a hundred years, Miao communities across Rongshui county in Guangxi have held pohui gatherings on different days throughout the first lunar month, meaning the county effectively hosts a rolling series of related festivals rather than one single fixed event, with the Gulong Pohui among the most prominent individual stagings.
