Modern Drama Valley in Shanghai

Jointly hosted by Jing'an district, Shanghai Media Group, and the Shanghai Theatre Academy since 2009, Modern Drama Valley stages dozens of productions each spring, with a recent edition featuring 21 core shows across 84 performances, over 85 percent making their China debut. More than 300 additional community events run throughout Jing'an district alongside the ticketed programming, extending the festival deep into neighborhood public life.

Since 2009, Shanghai's Jing'an district has jointly hosted Modern Drama Valley with Shanghai Media Group and the Shanghai Theatre Academy, building over more than fifteen years into one of the more influential theater festivals in China.
