Domoni Cultural Festival in Domoni
Domoni, one of Anjouan's oldest towns and the birthplace of Comoros's first president, hosts a locally organized cultural gathering sometimes called Festival Massiwa de Domoni. Documentation is thin, limited mostly to a single detailed report and scattered video clips, but it points to a real tradition of music, song in Shikomori, and community performance set against the town's coral-stone streets and old mosque quarter. Confirm current dates locally before planning a trip.
Domoni sits on the eastern coast of Anjouan, a town of coral-stone houses and narrow lanes that once sheltered sultans, and later produced Ahmed Abdallah, the man who became independent Comoros's first president.
