Sape Festival Brazzaville in Bacongo/Poto-Poto/Brazzaville
The Festival de la Sape has run in Brazzaville since its 2015 launch by the mayor of Ouenze, drawing sapeurs from the subculture's historic strongholds in Bacongo and Poto-Poto alongside international participants from France, the United States, South Africa and Cameroon. Editions have honored sape pioneers including Jacques Moulele and Fernand Mabala, with roughly forty sapeur associations taking part by recent counts.
Sapeurs from across Brazzaville's oldest dandy strongholds converge each year for the Festival de la Sape, launched on 28 June 2015 by the mayor of Ouenze under a theme of peace, unity and national harmony, and expanded in the years since into a citywide celebration of La Sape rather than a single-district affair.
