Cuvette-Ouest Culture Festival in Ewo/Cuvette-Ouest
The Cuvette-Ouest Culture Festival is a regional gathering centered on Ewo, capital of Congo's least populated department, which split from the larger Cuvette department in the early 2000s. It brings together communities from Ewo and Kelle for music, dance and craft. Its similarity in name to the neighboring Cuvette region, home to the already-documented Kiebe-Kiebe heritage tradition, is worth noting, though the two departments and festivals appear administratively distinct.
Cuvette-Ouest Culture Festival gives Ewo/Cuvette-Ouest, Congo an arts event that is easier to enjoy when it is treated as a real day out, not just a pin on a calendar.
