Aitutaki Dancer of the Year in Araura College Hall/Arutanga
Aitutaki Dancer of the Year is the island's own dedicated dance competition, staged at Araura College Hall in Arutanga and judged on technique, costume and stage presence in the ura tradition. It gives Aitutaki-based dancers, many connected to local schools, a competitive platform separate from Rarotonga's larger national events, in an intimate indoor venue where the audience is largely made up of family, teachers and neighbors.
Aitutaki runs its own Dancer of the Year competition rather than treating dance talent as something that only gets showcased on Rarotonga, and Araura College Hall in Arutanga is where the island stages it.
