Festival de las Esferas in Osa/Palmar Norte
Running since 2006 across Palmar Norte, Palmar Sur and Sierpe in Osa canton, this festival celebrates the region's pre-Columbian stone spheres, four of whose sites were declared UNESCO World Heritage in 2014. Held each April, it combines guided tours of the spheres with flora and fauna exhibitions and talks on Osa's pre-Columbian and banana-industry history.
The Festival de las Esferas has run since 2006, organised by local community groups across Palmar Norte, Palmar Sur and Sierpe within Osa canton, specifically to celebrate the archaeological, historical, social and cultural heritage of the Bruncan region and its famous pre-Columbian stone spheres.
