Dia de la Persona Negra y Cultura Afrocostarricense in Puerto Limon
Established by executive decree in the Carazo administration and broadened by law in 2011 and again in 2018, this observance commemorates the 1920 Madison Square Garden convention on the rights of Black people through cultural programming centred on Puerto Limon and Limon province. Coordinated by the Comite Civico Cultural Etnico Negro, it now anchors Costa Rica's month-long Historic Month of Afrodescendance each August.
Costa Rica's Day of the Black Person originated through Executive Decree No.
