Costa Rica International Film Festival in San José
Run jointly by Costa Rica's Ministry of Culture and Youth and its Film Production Centre, CRFIC has grown into what organisers describe as Central America's largest film-industry event, typically featuring around 70 films, competitions, international guests and industry training spaces. Programming remains entirely free to the public across roughly ten days each summer in San Jose.
The Costa Rica Festival Internacional de Cine, commonly abbreviated CRFIC, runs as a joint project of the Ministry of Culture and Youth and the Costa Rican Film Production Centre, built around contemporary independent cinema that engages directly with the joys, sorrows, interests and dramas of the societies it depicts rather than prioritising commercial spectacle.
