Festival de los Sitios Declarados Patrimonio Mundial in San José

The Museo Nacional de Costa Rica's Festival de los Sitios Declarados Patrimonio Mundial, run with UNESCO San Jose and the national conservation-areas system, marks the 2014 UNESCO listing of the Diquis stone-sphere chiefdom sites with rallies, guided tours and hands-on workshops in Boruca mask carving, ceramics, pre-Columbian goldsmithing and stone sculpture at the museum's Bellavista site, alongside parallel activities at the actual archaeological sites in the Osa region.

The Museo Nacional de Costa Rica, working with the UNESCO San Jose field office and the National System of Conservation Areas, organizes this festival specifically to mark Costa Rica's UNESCO World Heritage listing, the pre-Columbian chiefdom settlements associated with the Diquis stone spheres, four archaeological sites, Finca 6, Batambal, Grijalba and El Silencio, in the southern Puntarenas region, declared Heritage of Humanity on June 23, 2014.
