The story

Noche en Blanco San Jose in San José

Noche en Blanco is the flagship annual edition of San Jose's Art City Tour, adapted from Paris's Nuit Blanche concept and introduced to Costa Rica in 2010 by the French Alliance and GAM Cultural, expanding the usual free museum-and-gallery circuit into roughly twenty venues, three parallel circuits and more than sixty activities in a single November night.

Noche en Blanco began in Paris in 2002 as Nuit Blanche and gradually spread to major cities worldwide before the French Alliance and GAM Cultural introduced the concept to Costa Rica in 2010, adapting it into an expanded, larger-scale edition of the country's own Art City Tour rather than an unrelated import.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Unlike a standard Art City Tour edition, Noche en Blanco scales the same free, QR-code and shuttle-based format up to about twenty participating spaces and sixty-plus simultaneous activities organized into three distinct circuits, letting visitors choose a themed path through exhibitions, concerts, guided tours, talks and video art rather than a single general route

02

The mystery stays covered

Its direct lineage to Paris's Nuit Blanche, introduced to Costa Rica specifically in 2010 through the French Alliance and GAM Cultural, gives it an international origin story that the standard, more frequent Art City Tour editions do not carry individually
