Festival Presagio de Fuego in Turrialba
Organised by the Turrialba Literaria collective as a tribute to poet Jorge Debravo, Festival Presagio de Fuego runs each year around Costa Rica's National Poetry Day on 31 January, reaching a seventh edition in recent years. Its name evokes Turrialba's own active volcano, whose eruptive history spans the nineteenth century through 2016 and 2017, and programming brings poetry specifically to both urban and rural communities across the canton.
Festival Presagio de Fuego, organised by the Turrialba Literaria collective, was created as a tribute to poet Jorge Debravo and is timed each year to Costa Rica's National Poetry Day on 31 January, tying a literary festival directly to a specific national commemorative date rather than an independently chosen calendar slot.
