Rijeka Carnival in Rijeka

Rijeka Carnival combines a large urban parade along the Korzo, the city's central pedestrian street, in its present form since 1982, with the much older Zvoncari bell-ringing custom of surrounding villages, recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage in 2009. Zvoncari march centuries-old routes wearing sheepskin and brass bells to drive away winter spirits.
