Festival Internacional de Videoarte de Camaguey in Camaguey

Founded in 2008 by artists Jorge Luis Santana and Diana Rosa Perez, FIVAC is a biennial, self-financed international video art competition based in Camaguey rather than Havana. Run through the Cedinm new-media circuit since 2010, it draws well over a hundred competing works per edition and mixes emerging and established artists in a deliberate effort to decentralise Cuba's contemporary art scene.

FIVAC, the Festival Internacional de Videoarte de Camaguey, exists because two Cuban artists, Jorge Luis Santana and Diana Rosa Perez, decided in 2008 that experimental video art needed a home outside Havana, and built one in a city 570 kilometres east of the capital.
