Semana de la Cultura Camagueyana in Camaguey
Held traditionally each February 1 through 7 to mark the founding of the Villa de Santa Maria del Puerto Principe, popularly dated to February 2, 1514, though research suggests an initial founding at Punta del Guincho near present-day Nuevitas before relocation to the Tinima and Hatibonico rivers, Camaguey's Semana de la Cultura opens each year to the Diana Mambisa fanfare and has included a certamen de comida tipica traditional-food competition since 2001.
