Festival Piña Colada in Ciego de Avila
Created in 2004 by singer Arnaldo Rodriguez under the motto Culture, Tradition and Modernity, Ciego de Avila's Festival Pina Colada has grown from a fusion-music showcase into a broader cultural gathering combining concerts, theater, dance and academic panels, its twenty-third edition continuing a run distinct from the province's older, separately documented Carnaval de las Flores.
Popular singer Arnaldo Rodriguez created the Festival Pina Colada in 2004 under the motto Culture, Tradition and Modernity, establishing it as central Cuba's principal event for music, arts and cultural traditions in Ciego de Avila province, a region without the same concentration of internationally known cultural festivals as Havana or Santiago de Cuba.
