Banda Abou Carnival Parade in Barber
Curacao's Carnival season moves west to the rural Bandabou district about a week after Willemstad's main dates, with more than forty costumed groups parading from Hofi Abou near Barber village to the Veld di Barber football field, past former plantation houses. More than forty groups typically take part, with the single largest troupe on record exceeding four hundred members.
About a week after Willemstad's main Carnival dates, the entire celebration shifts west to the Bandabou region, Curacao's rural north-western district whose Papiamentu name translates to lower side, for a parade that departs from Hofi Abou, an open area on the outskirts of Barber village, and finishes at Veld di Barber, the local football field.
