Curacao Carnival Road March in Willemstad
Curacao Carnival's road march unfolds across two signature parades in Willemstad: the Gran Marcha (Grand Parade), starting around 10am with 25 to 30 costumed groups parading from St. Maria to Brionplein in Otrobanda, and the Marcha di Despedida (Farewell Parade), an evening event on the eve of Ash Wednesday featuring illuminated floats and the ceremonial burning of Momo at midnight.
Each Carnival season, downtown Willemstad becomes the stage for Curacao's road march, structured around two distinct signature parades that bookend the celebration in strikingly different registers.
