Anogyra Pastelli Festival in Anogyra
Anogyra, home to Cyprus's only Carob and Pasteli Museum, holds its dedicated Pasteli Festival each September, running eleven in the morning until eight in the evening, centred on live demonstrations of the long, traditional pasteli-making process from carob syrup. More than twenty local producers exhibit products, alongside carob soaps and cosmetics, live music and dancing filling the village streets.
Anogyra houses the only Carob and Pasteli Museum in all of Cyprus, a permanent institution documenting the growing, harvesting and processing of carob into pasteli, and the village's dedicated Pasteli Festival, held each September, builds its entire programme around the long, complex and genuinely toilsome process of making this traditional sweet from carob syrup.
