The story

Limassol Wine Festival in Limassol

Limassol Wine Festival runs nine evenings in late September and early October in the Limassol Municipal Gardens, now past its sixtieth edition. Wineries staff pavilions flanking the entrance offering free tastings, alongside live music, traditional dance and food stalls, all beneath the entrance's giant winegrower statue, a fixture since 1961.

A giant statue of a Cypriot village winegrower in traditional local dress has greeted visitors at the main entrance of Limassol's Wine Festival since 1961, making the figure itself almost as old as the modern festival's establishment and giving the event a fixed visual identity that has outlasted six decades of otherwise-changing programming.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What distinguishes Limassol's Wine Festival is its sheer continuity and free-tasting structure: decades of consecutive editions built around a single entrance statue unchanged since 1961, and free access to tastings from the region's own wineries rather than a paid, curated selection

02

The mystery stays covered

Few wine festivals anywhere let visitors sample an entire region's wineries at no cost across nine full evenings, and the specifically Limassol-rooted winemaking history behind the event gives it a documented local specificity beyond a generic autumn wine celebration
