International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama in Nicosia/Limassol/Paphos
The International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama has run every summer since 1997, staging professional productions of classical tragedy and comedy inside three genuinely ancient venues, the Kourion amphitheatre, Paphos's Ancient Odeon and Nicosia's Makarios III Amphitheatre, with companies from Greece, Britain, Germany, Korea and beyond performing across July and early August.
Professional theatre companies from as far afield as Korea, Russia, Sweden and the United States have performed inside a two-thousand-year-old amphitheatre at Kourion as part of the International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama, an event that has run every summer in Cyprus since 1997 and now stages productions across three of the island's most significant ancient performance spaces: the Kourion amphitheatre near Limassol, the Ancient Odeon in Paphos, and the Makarios III Amphitheatre in Nicosia.
