The story

Maker Faire Prague in Prague

Maker Faire Prague began on June 23rd and 24th, 2018, at the Industrial Palace, initiated by 3D-printer maker Josef Prusa alongside the nonprofit Zadna Veda and the Czech Technical University. Now well established after multiple editions, it has grown into Central Europe's largest making festival and the anchor event for around a dozen smaller Maker Faires held across the Czech Republic each year.

Maker Faire Prague held its first edition on June 23rd and 24th, 2018, at the Industrial Palace, a large early-twentieth-century exhibition hall that gave the new event a genuinely grand physical setting from the outset.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Few grassroots maker events launch with the combination of backing Maker Faire Prague had from its 2018 debut, a leading 3D-printer manufacturer, a science-outreach nonprofit and a major technical university working together, rather than growing organically from an unaffiliated hobbyist community alone

02

The mystery stays covered

Its role as the anchor event for roughly a dozen smaller Maker Faires held across the Czech Republic each year gives it an organisational reach beyond a single annual gathering in Prague, functioning as the hub of a genuine national network

03

The city starts moving

Billed as Central Europe's largest making festival, it draws hundreds of individual makers demonstrating hands-on projects directly to the public, a format built around genuine participatory demonstration rather than passive commercial exhibition
