Festival de Gungu FESNAG in Kasai cultural centres
FESNAG, the Festival National de Gungu, brings masked dance troupes from Kwilu province's Pende and neighboring communities to the town of Gungu, roughly 600 kilometers from Kinshasa. Congolese officials have long used the gathering to open the national cultural calendar. Scheduling has shifted in past years, and the town offers limited visitor infrastructure, so this reads as a locally rooted folklore event rather than a large festival production.
Festival de Gungu FESNAG gives Gungu/Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo an arts event that is easier to enjoy when it is treated as a real day out, not just a pin on a calendar.
