Festival Amani in Lubumbashi/Goma
Festival Amani is a peace-themed music, dance, and comedy festival founded in 2013 in Goma, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, drawing thousands of participants across three days each edition. Built around a main performance stage, an NGO-run associative space, and a youth entrepreneurship competition, it uses shared cultural experience as a deliberate peacebuilding tool in a region shaped by recurring conflict.
Festival Amani was founded in 2013 in Goma, in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, as a peacebuilding project expressed through music, dance, and comedy rather than through speeches or formal diplomacy.
