NorthSide Aarhus

NorthSide runs three days each June in Eskelunden, a park close to central Aarhus, pairing an international and Nordic music lineup across four stages with an unusually deliberate sustainability programme: entirely organic, plant-based festival food and, since 2022, a fully green-electricity power supply. Its city-adjacent setting makes it easier to combine with hotel-based Aarhus sightseeing than Denmark's more remote festival sites.

NorthSide became the first major festival anywhere to run entirely on green electricity in 2022, a distinction that says as much about how the event positions itself as any lineup could: staged in Eskelunden, a green park close to central Aarhus rather than a remote rural site, the festival pairs an international and Danish music bill with an unusually deliberate sustainability programme, serving food that is entirely plant-based and organic and dropping bottled water from its vendors altogether.
