Copenhagen Carnival in Copenhagen

Copenhagen Carnival began in 1982 with 500 dancers and 60,000 spectators, growing since into a three-day Whitsun-weekend carnival centred on Faelledparken with roughly 2,000 costumed samba dancers and crowds estimated around 100,000. Founded the same year Brazilian samba culture first arrived in Denmark, it runs in parallel with Aalborg's carnival as one of the country's two major Brazilian-influenced carnival celebrations.
