The modern festival runs a full week each August, combining a free public parade with talks, advocacy programming and a Pride Village of stalls centred on the same square.

Copenhagen was the European City of Culture and host of that year's Europride when the city's own first Pride parade set out from Frederiksberg Runddel on a Saturday evening in June 1996, moving along Frederiksberg Alle and Vesterbrogade before ending at Radhuspladsen, the city hall square that has anchored the event ever since.
