Fiestas Patronales San Juan Bautista in San Juan de la Maguana
San Juan de la Maguana, capital of San Juan province in the southwestern interior, honors its namesake patron, Saint John the Baptist, on June 24 following the standard Dominican pattern of novena, procession and verbena. The same saint's feast is separately marked in Bani through the UNESCO-recognized Sarandunga tradition, a distinct Afro-Dominican observance in a different province.
