Fiestas de San Pedro de Cayambe in Cayambe
Cayambe's Catholic patron-saint program for San Pedro and San Pablo runs alongside the town's Inti Raymi celebration in the same June window, centered on a chamiza bonfire, popular bullfights in a wooden plaza built in the 1920s, a light parade called the Corrida de Luces, fireworks and a queen coronation. It overlaps closely enough with Inti Raymi that the two names are sometimes used interchangeably.
Cayambe burns a chamiza bonfire in the Plaza Dominical and packs a century-old wooden bullring for the Catholic half of its June festivities, a civic and religious program that runs alongside, and is historically fused with, the town's indigenous Inti Raymi celebration.
