Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival in Cairo

D-CAF, launched in 2012 as a successor to the earlier Nitaq festival, is Cairo's largest multi-disciplinary contemporary arts festival, spanning theatre, dance, music, visual arts and film. It reactivates historic downtown Cairo buildings such as the old Radio Cinema and Kodak Passageway as performance venues across a roughly three-week run.

D-CAF, short for Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival, launched in 2012 as a direct successor to Nitaq, an earlier downtown Cairo arts festival, after co-founders Ahmed El Attar of Orient Productions and Karim Shafei of Al-Ismaelia for Real Estate Investment had conceived the project in 2010 and then postponed it amid the 2011 revolution.
