Moulid of Ibrahim El Desouki in Desouk

Moulid of Ibrahim El Desouki commemorates the thirteenth-century founder of the Burhamiyya Sufi order at his 1277 mosque in Desouk, one of Egypt's oldest. Unusually, his feast is marked twice yearly, in April and on 2 October, each drawing pilgrims reported in the millions to this modest Nile Delta town.

Moulid of Ibrahim El Desouki commemorates Ibrahim al-Dasuqi, a thirteenth-century scholar and Sufi mystic who founded the Burhamiyya order, one of the four great Sufi orders historically recognized in Egypt alongside the Badawiyya, Ahmadiyya and Rifaiyya.
