Moulid of Sayyid Al Badawi in Tanta is Egypt's largest moulid, commemorating thirteenth-century Sufi founder Ahmad al-Badawi at his shrine mosque, which can hold roughly twenty thousand worshippers during the week-long October observance. Pilgrim numbers have been reported in the low millions, more than doubling Tanta's population for the duration.
