Fiestas Patronales de Ciudad Arce in Ciudad Arce
Ciudad Arce, near the Maya archaeological site of San Andres in La Libertad department, holds its fiestas patronales from December 1 to 8 in honor of the Virgen Inmaculada Concepcion. The town's location beside the San Andres ruins and two local water parks gives the December week an added draw for day-trip visitors.
Ciudad Arce sits forty-five kilometers from San Salvador in the farmland of La Libertad department, a district whose best-known landmark predates the Spanish conquest by more than a thousand years.
