Fiestas Patronales de Cojutepeque in Cojutepeque
Cojutepeque, the misty hill city and capital of Cuscatlan department, holds two fiestas patronales: a January feast honoring the Immaculate Conception and Saint Sebastian, featuring the procession of the Conchitas images and the tradition of the Dia Tipico, and an August 29th feria de agosto honoring Saint John the Baptist. Together they anchor the religious and social calendar of a city historically nicknamed the City of Mists.
Cojutepeque sits on the slopes of the Cerro de las Pavas, a hill treasured locally for its natural setting and once famous enough for its evening fog to earn the city the nickname La Ciudad de las Neblinas, the City of Mists.
