Fiestas Patronales de Cuscatancingo in Cuscatancingo
Cuscatancingo, historically registered as San Antonio Abad Cuzcatanzingo, honors San Antonio Abad, Saint Anthony the Abbot, whose feast falls January 17. The town is closely associated with the Danza del Torito Pinto, in which a fireworks-laden bull-frame costume is set alight at night after the procession, accompanied by traditional songs and atol shuco.
Cuscatancingo's devotion to San Antonio Abad, Saint Anthony the Abbot, reaches back deep into the colonial record: the town appears in the writings of the eighteenth-century chronicler Domingo Juarros under the fuller name San Antonio Abad Cuzcatanzingo, documented as early as 1670.
